Washing Care
Washing & Care Instructions:
- Hand Wash Recommended: Hand washing is the gentlest way to clean your crocheted item (bag, case, accessory, etc.) and will help maintain its shape and structure.
- Use Cool Water and Mild Detergent: Fill a basin or sink with cool water and add a small amount of mild detergent, such as one formulated for delicates or baby clothes.
- Soak and Gently Agitate: Submerge the crocheted item in the soapy water and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Gently agitate the water to help loosen any dirt or grime. Do not scrub or wring the bag.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Drain the soapy water and refill the basin with cool, clean water. Rinse the crocheted item until all the soap is removed. You may need to repeat this step a few times.
- Gently Squeeze Out Excess Water: Carefully squeeze out the excess water from the crocheted merchandise. Do not wring or twist the crocheted item.
- Reshape and Air Dry: Lay the crocheted item flat on a clean, absorbent towel and gently reshape it to its original dimensions. Allow the crocheted merchandise to air dry completely. Do not hang the crocheted merchandise to dry, as this can cause it to stretch or lose its shape.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat: Do not place the crocheted item in direct sunlight or near a heat source to dry, as this can cause the colors to fade or the yarn to become brittle.
Additional Tips:
- Test for Colorfastness: Before washing the entire crocheted item, test a small, inconspicuous area for colorfastness. Wet a cotton swab with soapy water and dab it on the area. If any color transfers to the swab, the yarn may bleed and hand washing may not be suitable.
- Spot Clean Stains: If possible, spot clean any stains immediately with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Store Properly: When not in use, store your crocheted item in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and dust. Stuff the bag with tissue paper or a clean towel to help maintain its shape.
Remember: Always check the care label or yarn information that came with your crocheted merchandise for any specific washing instructions. If you are unsure about how to wash your item, it is best to err on the side of caution and hand wash it gently.
